Animal Obby is a free browser obstacle course where you swap between five animals, each with its own ability, to clear every level.
Animal Obby turns a browser tab into an obstacle course starring five very different animals. Instead of controlling one runner for a whole level, you swap between a gecko, a monkey, a kangaroo, a turkey and an elephant mid-run, using whichever one's specialty gets you past the gap, wall or drop in front of you.
Levels are built around courses rather than open worlds: platforms, spinning obstacles and timing-based jumps stacked one after another. The animal you're riding changes what's possible on any given obstacle - one might climb where another would fall, one might be fast enough to clear a jump the others can't. Power-ups scattered through a course, including a temporary flight boost, cover the gaps between what the animals alone can do.
It's also built to play with friends rather than alone: Animal Obby runs as a multiplayer game with online lobbies, so a course can turn into a race against whoever else joined your session instead of just the clock.
Move with WASD or the arrow keys and press Space to jump. The number keys 1 through 5 swap between the five animals at any point during a run - you don't need to finish a section with the animal you started it with. Mouse clicks handle menus, power-up pickups and character customization. On phone or tablet, a left joystick moves, a right joystick turns the camera, and an on-screen button replaces Space for jumping.
Switch animals before an obstacle, not mid-jump - each one's ability only helps if you're already using it when the obstacle arrives. Grab flight and other power-ups even when a section looks manageable without them; they carry over and can save a run later in the course. If a jump keeps failing with one animal, try another before assuming your timing is off, since obstacles are often built around a specific animal's strengths.
Animal Obby is the odd one out among BuildRoyale's shooters and battle royales, which makes it a good breather between matches. ZombsRoyale.io is the site's own top-down battle royale, looting gear and trying to outlast everyone else on a shrinking map. Venge.io swaps that for a fast first-person arena shooter with no obstacle courses involved. Blumgi Paintball is closer in spirit - a party game built for two people sharing one keyboard rather than a full lobby.
